Implants - single teeth

The middle tooth in the photograph is actually missing and has been replaced by an implant supported crown.

This missing tooth can be replaced using either a bridge, denture or implant.
An implant is usually the ideal option as the adjacent teeth are not trimmed for support as they usually would need to be for a bridge, and is a permanent and less bulky alternative to a denture.

The implant is placed under local anaesthetic and there is very little discomfort afterwards. The implant may then be restored with a crown immediately, or left for up to six months for the bone to attach fully to the implant (integrate). This depends on the quality of the bone.

The restoration is placed on the implant, often using a post.
